The “work agenda” for the Standing Committee of the NPC (SC) was recently approved. No big surprises on the environmental front. The SC will discuss “the amendment or adoption of 18 laws, hear seven work reports and conduct reviews on the implementation of five laws in 2008.”
As we noted previously, the Circular Economy Law is up for passage this year (at least that’s what I assume is meant by the law “regulating management of an environment-friendly economy”).
One bit of new news is that the SC will conduct an “inspection of the implementation” of the Environmental Impact Assessment Law. I assume the main focus will be on “regional” or “special program” EIAs, not specific construction project EIAs, but I could be wrong. We’ll keep watching that one.
