KalmaegiThe CELB offices are closing early today because of the approach of tropical storm Kalmaegi (Korean for seagull).  Dark clouds have been scudding by since about 10am this morning. No rain yet, but it’s predicted, and we don’t like the thought of our employees (who always use public transportation, of course) slogging to the Metro station along flooded streets.

For those of you in regions unaffected by inclement weather who still want the latest on China’s environmental front, you can check out this article from Xinhua: “Australian newspaper praises China’s efforts to combat pollution.” I suppose positive validation about China’s environment from abroad these days is so scarce that this does qualify as news, but I recommend you go to the original article (which strangely is not linked in the Xinhua story) for the complete picture: ”Light in the Fog.” The Green Leap Forward also has a nice post on the Olympic greening efforts.

Uh oh, really dark clouds now. Gotta run.
