The new Yale Environment 360 blog features an in-depth look at Xu Kezhu, the environmental law professor and lawyer, we wrote about yesterday. The feature is written by Christina Larson who has written several nice pieces featuring China’s environmental crusaders (including two of the articles we noted yesterday). Check it out.
More Big Pictures featuring the Olympics: Beijing 2008 Preparations - Three Weeks to Go. The prevailing comment theme seems to be “depressing.” Who can find the picture of the policeman removing the “Sex Shop” sign depressing? And even if you were depressed, the pictures of the performers in their Opening Ceremony get ups are sure to whet your appetite for that extravaganza; there is no way it can fail to be entertaining. Or, get a load of that building across the street from the “water cube,” the one topped with the cartoon-like shock of wavy hair (I haven’t seen it listed among Beijing’s new architectural “gems”). Or, how about the new Qianmen Street development (truth be told, that is depressing)? The picture of the father playing with his baby in the midst of his demolished house actually cheers me up; life goes on, enjoy the moment, spread the love.
