It was busy Sunday here at CELB. I upgraded to the latest WordPress version (despite the bewilderingly complex instructions, it was actually quite simple and flawless), added a plugin to ward off the huge volume of spam comments I was getting (you shouldn’t notice this change unless you’re not running JavaScripts, and then you may have to type a captcha to get your comment in line for moderation). I added a new fn 1 plugin (what lawyer can write without footnotes?), and a couple of other back office things.
The changes you can see include:
Blogroll addition and changes
I added a number of sites to my “blogroll” and split it into two parts: one called “Environment & Energy” and one called “Other China Links.” In some case it was hard to determine in what category to place a site. For instance, should Shanghai Scrap go in the first or second category? It certainly addresses China environmental issues, but it seems unfair to pigeonhole it since it features so much more than that. Unfair or not, I put it in “Environment & Energy.” I haven’t deleted any sites, but if I failed to add your site and we have previously talked about me doing so, please send me a kindly reminder.
Articles & Quotes
I’ve renamed and added a couple of items to the right sidebar category “Articles & Quotes.” As the name now suggests, it contains articles I have written and stories where I have been quoted on something to do with China.
Recent Interviews
The left sidebar now has a category called “Recent Interviews” which follows the shameless self-promotion theme of “Articles & Quotes,” but hey it does help me to have these things in one place.
Events
I’ve added a page called “Events” which will feature events in China or elsewhere dealing with China environmental or energy issues. I’ve already entered a few events, and you can see that there is no shortage of conferencing, foruming, summiting, and (doggone it, wink wink) jawboning on these issues in the next several months. If you have an event you would like featured, send me an email or leave a comment on the Event page.
Comments
Except for the spam filter, nothing has changed here, but I just wanted to apologize to all of you who have commented over the past few months that I have not been very good in responding. Thanks for your comments; I vow to do better in the future.
Favicon
Having succumbed to a virulent bout of time wastage, I created a favicon for the site which should eventually appear by this site’s address in your browser and/or feedreader. It’s a yin yang symbol in red, which represents China, and green, which represents. . . OK, enough already, its a stupid little dot thing.
Since China was on holiday, not much happened to the environment or energy spheres last week. I’ll summarize what did transpire tomorrow.
