I know I promised more on China’s new WEEE regulation this week, but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. Today is absolutely crazy. Next week I promise!

CHINA 2009: Gazing into the Crystal Ball
Wondering how the economic downturn is impacting legal and business developments in China? Curious as to what is happening to China’s once sizzingly hot real estate sector? Bewildered as to how employee lay-offs are being handled by foreign-invested companies facing decreasing demand for their products? And, what about those unfortunate companies who may need to file for bankruptcy of their China operations - how are they likely to fare? What developments have been taking place with China’s new Anti-Monopoly Law and should we expect changes in light of the global economic downturn?
These and other fascinating questions will be considered in an informal monitored discussion on March 27, in person at the Section’s offices in Washington, D.C. and via teleconference for members wishing to participate from other locations - whether in the United States or elsewhere. Each topic’s discussion will be led by a practitioner based in China: Amy Sommers, Elizabeth Cole, Robin Kaptzan, and Peter Neumann will assist us in gazing into the crystal ball to find out what to expect in China in 2009. Please join us by phone or in-person. Adam Bobrow will moderate the panel.
I know Amy, Elizabeth, and Robin (all are based here in Shanghai) and this will be well worth your time.
