On the Road

We are heading off tonight on the hard sleeper to Jiujiang.  The SJTU law school faculty is taking a trip to Lushan, and we don’t get back to Shanghai until Thursday.  I’ll try to send an occasional message via Twitter (through my Blackberry), but won’t be able to read any replies or any comments that may be posted here.  See you later this week!

I’ve been to Lushan twice. The crowds (as with so many Chinese tourist spots) are overwhelming, but the scenery is breathtaking — and it’s a good 15 degrees cooler up there compared to the rest of Jiangxi province. Make sure to split your time between the gorgeous hiking trails and the several museums, which outline Lushan’s checkered history. Wish I was there!

Thanks for the report Tanner! I was sure there would be crowds, but it’s nice to know it’s still worth it. I am really looking forward to some cooler temperatures.

Wow, the picture is so beautiful. Is it a reflection of current scenery?

Unfortunately, that particular scene is not as it is in the picture. It’s a reservoir and the water level was a lot lower when we were there than in the picture. Still, most of the Lushan is very beautiful. I would definitely return, especially if I could spend more time. The fall would be a good time to go; I bet the leaves are spectacular.
