Can’t decide which China cleantech, clean energy, or “green” conference to attend this fall? Your problems are solved! Mark your calendars (September 7-8) and register now for Greentech: A Call to Action
Co-Organized by AmCham Shanghai and the Asia Society, the conference is
a platform for policy makers, leading technology companies, entrepreneurs, investors and NGOs to collaborate and accelerate Greentech opportunities in China and the US. This event is the next step in a journey started by leading organizations that have consolidated their efforts to create a sustainable environment, effect change and create participant and sponsor value. Our platform is unique. It is built upon both the unbiased market analysis provided by the China Greentech Initiative (CGTI) and unprecedented bi-lateral cooperative programs developed by the US-China Clean Energy Forum. We are proud to announce that CGTI’s first deliverable, The China Greentech Report, a definitive, actionable market roadmap for commercializing Greentech opportunities in China, will launch immediately following this event. With an expected audience of 300+ attendees over two content-packed days, this ‘Call to Action’ provides an opportunity for participants to not only engage 100 global thought leaders and senior government officials in professionally moderated conversations, but also to shape action-oriented programs during our exclusive Catalyst Sessions facilitated by PricewaterhouseCoopers. So please join us for a groundbreaking gathering of leaders committed to action at Shanghai’s phenomenal World Financial Center on 7-8 September 2009.
It will feature presentations by Han Qide, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Maria Cantwell US Senator (D-WA), Han Wenke Director General, The Energy Research Institute of the NDRC & Co-Chairman, US China Clean Energy Forum, and Stanley H. Each session is designed to include ample time for audience Q & A. Sector roundtables will begin with a 15-20 minute presentation of market defining conclusions extracted from the China Greentech Initiative Key Findings in Seven Sectors.
The China Greentech Initiative (CGTI) is an open source, commercial collaboration of 80 of the world’s leading technology and service companies, entrepreneurs, investors, NGOs and policy advisors. Through the China Greentech Initiative, these organizations have come together to define Greentech market opportunities and solutions which will contribute to a sustainable China and world. The China Greentech Report, the first deliverable of the Initiative, provides cross-sectoral analysis of the market and environmental issues facing China, the country’s regulatory response, the available technical solutions that can be used to address these issues and key development challenges and opportunities to accelerate greentech market growth. The Report demonstrates that the market potential is huge, that changes in the Chinese Government’s policy are a positive driver, and that China is innovating at the intersection of technology and commercial opportunity. The China Greentech Initiative was co-created by Ellen G. Carberry and Randall S. Hancock, and is produced by MangoStrategy, LLC. The Initiative’s Founding Partners are PricewaterhouseCoopers and AmCham Shanghai.
In addition, Catalyst Sessions will be moderated by PwC. The topics have been selected from among the eight collaborative initiatives identified by the US-China Clean Energy Forum.
The U.S.- China Clean Energy Forum (www.cleanenergyforum.org) is a non-profit, private-sector organization made up of leaders from both countries who share a commitment to increasing bilateral cooperation on clean energy and efficiency. The Forum’s mission is to recommend specific and transformational actions to the governments of the United States and China to improve energy efficiency and accelerate the deployment of clean energy. Over the last two years, the Clean Energy Forum formed working groups made up of experts in energy, finance, law and public policy from both countries and held a series of high-level meetings in Beijing and Seattle attended by leading political and business figures and experts to explore feasible ways of cooperation between the two countries in clean energy and alternative fuels. Through that collaborative process, the Clean Energy Forum has developed Eight Initiatives-supported equally by both sides-for transforming the energy systems of both countries.
The Catalyst Sessions are limited to 24 business executives per session, and will utilize the China Greentech Report Market Findings as a catalyst for conversation, with the intent to gain consensus and define focus areas for collaboration and market action. Sessions will be documented and content made publicly available, to form the basis for further action by the US-China Clean Energy Forum, AmCham Shanghai and the Asia Society.
